The aim of the OECD Skills for Jobs Indicators is to provide information about skills shortages, surpluses and mismatch across countries. This is to facilitate skill matching and provide up to date information about labour market needs and skill gaps. The Skill Needs Indicators provide an overview of the shortages and surpluses of skills across countries.

The indicator was calculated by the OECD using data from the European Union Labour Force Survey (LFS), the European Union Survey of Income and Living Conditions (SILC), the South African Labour Force Survey and O*NET.
