Annual hours actually worked are obtained by dividing total weekly hours at work by average number of people in employment annualised by multiplying by 52 weeks. Data prior to 1999 are based on the quarterly labour force survey with fixed monthly reference weeks. In 1999, the survey was conducted only in the first quarter and last quarter when the continuous survey was introduced, which causes a break in the series prior and after 1999.
