Metropolitan RegionsAbstract

In assessing regional competitiveness policies, the OECD Territorial Development Policy Committee and its Working Parties on Territorial Indicators and Urban Policy, are increasingly called to compare the economic and social performances of Metropolitan Regions across member countries. A Metropolitan Region typically consists of a core area with significant concentration of employment or population and a surrounding area densely populated and closely tied with the core.
