In October 2012, Statistics Canada adopted the 2008 SNA ("System of National Accounts 2008", Commission of the European Communities - Eurostat, International Monetary Fund, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, United Nations and World Bank, 2008).

The financial intermediation services indirectly measured (FISIM) are allocated to industries and institutional sectors.

Chain Fisher indices are used to measure volume growth and the resulting chained volume estimates are not additive.

The quarterly figures are adjusted for seasonal and calendar variations, method X11 ARIMA.
