This dataset represents a selection of indicators as presented in the 2020 edition of the Government at a Glance Latin America and the Caribbean publication. This third edition of Government at a Glance Latin America and the Caribbean is a joint project between the OECD and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The Introduction of the overall Government at a Glance Latin America and the Caribbean publication, describes its objective, framework and the structure by chapters.
This edition contains indicators on the entire production process of government, from inputs to processes to outcomes; and covers public finance and employment, budgeting practices and procedures, human resources management, regulatory governance, open government data, public procurement, public integrity and core government results. Governance indicators are especially useful for monitoring and benchmarking governments’ progress in their public sector reforms.

This is done by the use of international frameworks, and its compilation procedures, such as the pillars SNA (System of National Accounts), the ILO definitions and classifications. Hovewer, as most of indicators use OECD defined surveys OECD instruments have been established regarding for example the Open Government data (International Open Data Charter principles), Budgetary institutional features in terms of Public-Private Partnerships (Principles for Public governance of PPPs), Digital government (Principles on Digital Government Strategies). Proper metadata and references are shown alongside with the indicators in the publication.
