This dataset contains the main results of the 2008 Eurostat-OECD PPP comparison for the 46 countries that participated in the 2008 round of the Eurostat-OECD Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Programme and for the 5 countries that participated in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Comparison Programme for 2008. The dataset is organised in 25 tables which show results both in US dollars and OECD as reference (Table 1.1 to Table 1.12) and in euros and European Union as reference (Table 2.1 to Table 2.11) calculated with the EKS method and results calculated with the GK method (Tables A1 and A2). The tables contain the following information:

The OECD makes comparisons every three years when Eurostat makes them every year. The last benchmark year is 2005 and data are available in the dataset "2005 PPP Benchmark results". The next benchmark year will be 2011 and results will be released end 2013.

The PPP results presented here have been calculated following a methodology agreed by Eurostat and the OECD. All detailed information can be found in the Eurostat-OECD Methodological Manual on Purchasing Power Parities. The methodology employed for CIS comparisons is closely aligned with that of Eurostat and the OECD.
