INSTITUTIONAL UNITS – SNA

Definition:
An institutional unit may be defined as an economic entity that is capable, in its own right, of owning assets, incurring liabilities and engaging in economic activities and in transactions with other entities.

Context:
The resident institutional units that make up the total economy are grouped into five mutually exclusive sectors:

- non-financial corporations;
- financial corporations;
- general government;
- non-profit institutions serving households;
- households
