HEATED WAGON

French Equivalent: Wagon calorifique

Definition:
Insulated wagon fitted with a heat-producing appliance.

Context:
Such a wagon is capable of raising the temperature inside the empty body to, and thereafter maintaining it for not less than 12 hours without renewal of supply at, a practically constant value of not less than +12 degrees C when the mean outside temperature of the body is that indicated for the two classes:

- Class A. Heated equipment for use when the mean outside temperature is - 10 degrees C; and,

- Class B. Heated equipment for use when the mean outside temperature is - 20 degrees C.
