Hours worked data are obtained from the Labour Force Survey.

Source Periodicity
Annual and quarterly data are averages of figures referring to the week.

Sector coverage
Data refer to the persons aged 16-74 years which are employed in establishments of all types and sizes in manufacturing, which are affiliated to the Confederation of Norwegian Business and Industry.

Key statistical concept
Data refer to normal working hours of employees excluding holidays or sick leave with pay and overtime, in the manufacturing sector, in accordance with their work contract.

Sector coverage
The survey covers establishments of all types and sizes in sections from B to S in accordance with the new version of Norwegian industry classification (SIC2007). From the first quarter of 2000, data refer to the Norwegian industry classification SIC2007, compatible with NACE Rev.2.

Annual data are compiled as average of quarterly figures.

Sampling
Data are obtained by form or electronic media from individual companies covered by the quarterly sample. Incoming data is further linked with information from the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises, which provides information about the establishment/enterprise. Enterprises with less than 5 employees are not included in the sample. Each year around 25 per cent of the small and medium-size enterprises are replaced with new ones. The sampling unit is enterprise. Data are collected quarterly. The census date are 31 March, 30 June, 30 September and 31 December each year.

Key statistical concept
Data refer to the average changes in monthly earnings of full-time employees. Monthly earnings include all irregular payments, bonuses, commissions and the like. Payment in kind, insurance or deduction-free compensation for expenses, and overtime payments are excluded.

Other comments
The index of monthly earnings is calculated as an average for the individual quarter with base year 2005=100.
