Data are gathered on volume, quantity, value and average price, according to the country of origin/destination.
Direct source Central Bank of Brazil International Monetary Fund (export data between 1/1964 - 12/1976, import data between 1/1971 - 12/1977)
Source Periodicity Annual and quarterly data are averages of monthly figures.
Geographic coverage The statistical border coincides with the geographical boundary.
Key statistical concept Exports are compiled according to the system of general trade whereas imports are compiled according to the system of special trade except for free trade zones where the system of general trade is used. Imports include all goods cleared through customs. Exports and imports are both valued f.o.b.. Shuttle trade, special operations such as: monetary gold; securities; banknotes and coins in circulation; temporary exports of goods in a given state; goods for repair ; goods to be used in fairs and other events; goods leased for less than one year, goods in transit; customs deposits are excluded. The goods included in the balance of trade are: ordinary operations, nonmonetary gold, military goods, water, gas and electricity, financial leases, free trade zones and special customs areas, re-exportation, trade for the government's account, securities, banknotes and coins not entering circulation, and drawback.
