The Bank of Mexico compiles the balance of payments using as main sources:
1 Customs documents for goods trade.
2 Surveys for travel, other services, compensation of employees, direct investment income and nonbank private debt.
3 Administrative records for transfers(workers remittances).
4 Official records for direct investment capital.
5 Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit for statistics on public debt.
6 Bank of Mexico statistics on the banking sector.

Key statistical concept
Mexico is in transition between BPM4 and BPM5. Major recommendations yet to be implemented include breaking down the services account into more detail and identifying and subdividing capital transfers.
Seasonal adjustment
Annual data are sum of quarterly figures. OECD performs the seasonal adjustment using an option which ensures that the seasonally adjusted monthly or quarterly figures add to the corresponding unadjusted annual data.
