| Key statistical concept Total employment is defined as the sum of civilian employment and members of the armed forces. Members of the armed forces should be included among persons in paid employment. The armed forces should include both the regular and the conscripts as specified in the most recent revision of the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO). In reality, the actual definition could vary from country to country, depending on the fact that the survey covers or not those living in collective and institutional accommodations. |
