Characteristics

Reference period Annual data are averages of quarterly figures. The last population census took place in 2001 and its results are incorporated from 2004 in this publication.

Scope

Population coverage Data refer to the present population in the country (de facto). Persons temporarily living abroad are excluded.

Other Aspects

Quality comments Series breaks: Prior to 1990, the age groups refer to: less than 14; from 14 to 64 years; and 65 years and over, instead of: less than 15; from 15 to 64 years; and 65 years and over.
