Côte d'Ivoire's Social Insitutions and Gender Index (SIGI Côte d'Ivoire) is a composite index measuring discriminatory social institutions at the national and subnational levels. The conceptual framework of the SIGI Côte d'Ivoire covers four dimensions spanning major socio-economic areas that affect women’s and girls’ entire lifetimes: discrimination in the family, restricted physical integrity, restricted access to productive and financial resources, and restricted civil liberties builds. Each dimension builds on three to five indicators. Each indicator results from the aggregation of several variables measuring the level of discrimination in attitudes and in practice. In total, the SIGI Côte d'Ivoire builds on 60 variables that draw directly on the data of the SIGI Côte d'Ivoire household survey and that are available in the GID Côte d'Ivoire dataset. The SIGI Côte d'Ivoire, its dimensions and its indicators range from 0 to 100, with 0 indicating no discrimination and 100 indicating absolute discrimination against women. Covering the 14 districts of the country, the SIGI Côte d'Ivoire seeks to provide an in-depth look at how attitudes and practices create gaps between women and men in terms of opportunities and outcomes, with particular attention to girls' and women’s education and economic empowerment.
