The term "mobilisation" describes the causal link between private finance made available for a specific project and an official intervention. Instrument-specific methodologies underpinning the collection of this information can be found in Annex 6 of Addendum 1 to the Statistical Reporting Directives. More details on these efforts can be found at oe.cd/mobilisation (see link below).
7 April 2023. Next update: September 2023
Data on amounts mobilised from the private sector are collected at activity level from official actors active in this domain, including bilateral providers and multilateral organisations, such as the multilateral development banks (MDBs). Prior to 2017, IDB Invest refers to the former Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) Group.
In order to address the confidentiality concerns expressed by some providers, this dataset presents information on mobilised private finance aggregated in three different ways: 1) by recipient and group of providers, 2) by provider and main sector and 3) by provider and region. Accordingly, amounts mobilised by recipient per provider are not displayed. Each of these presentations can be further broken down by leveraging mechanism and amount type (total mobilised vs. total mobilised for climate).
Going forward, the list of possible breakdowns may be further expanded with the SDG dimension.
Lastly, the increases in the amounts mobilised through syndicated loans in 2014 and DIC/SPVs in 2016 are mainly explained by improved data coverage.
