The International Transport Forum (ITF) publishes the ITF Transport Outlook, its flagship report, biennially as part of the OECD Outlook series. It develops and analyses forward-looking scenarios for global transport activity across all transport modes. Based on the cutting-edge ITF global model suite, it provides decision makers in government and industry with coherent scenarios for future demand in passenger mobility, freight volumes and transport-related CO2 emissions to 2050.
This database contains the full outputs from the analysis, which is also updated every other year in line with the publication. It covers the travel demand, vehicle activities, energy consumptions, as well as related CO2 emissions of all modes (existing and new emerging modes) for both freight (urban, non-urban, and international) and passenger transport (urban, non-urban, and international), under three different policy scenario (Recovery, Reshape, and Reshape+).
The scenarios reflect a number of potential disruptions from within and outside the transport sector, including the shock from Covid-19 crisis. The impacts of such developments, individually as well as combined, are modelled for this Transport Outlook. Detailed descriptions and assumptions of the policy measures included in each scenario can be found in the publication ITF Transport Outlook 2021.

The list of outputs includes mode share, passenger kilometres, vehicle kilometres, and well-to-tank and tank-to-wheel CO2 emissions for all modes between 2015 and 2050 (incremental of every 5 years) under 3 scenarios.
