Database
published : June 2018
This dataset and predefined summary tables are a complement to the report Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation 2018, which monitors agricultural policy developments in 35 OECD member countries, 6 non-OECD EU member states and 10 emerging economies: Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan, Russia, the Philippines, South Africa, Ukraine and Viet Nam.
The OECD uses a comprehensive system for measuring and classifying support to agriculture - the Producer and Consumer Support Estimates (PSEs and CSEs) and related indicators. They provide insight into the increasingly complex nature of agricultural policy and serve as a basis for OECD’s work on agricultural policies.
More detailed data by country and documentation can be found in the full dataset (Excel Format) available at :
Data necessary for estimating agricultural support is collected from agricultural and other relevant ministries of participating countries, national statistical offices, and various national and international databases, including other OECD databases. Detailed information on sources of data for each participating country is available in the Definitions and Sources files by country (see country level metadata).
June 2018
Data are updated on annual basis.
Source: OECD (2018), “Producer and Consumer Support Estimates”, OECD Agriculture statistics (database).
Definitions of the indicators, criteria for classification of policy transfers included in support estimation, and methods of calculation are contained in the PSE Manual (OECD’s Producer Support Estimate and Related indicators of Agricultural Support: Concepts, Calculations, Interpretation and Use).
Data are collected for each country in local currency. Spot exchange rates, available in OECD databases, are subsequently used to derive data in USD and Euro. The values in common currency units are used for cross-country comparison and calculating OECD aggregates.
Policy level data underlying agricultural support estimates can be consulted in the Policy Browsers. The Browsers are Excel-based pivot tables allowing cross-country comparisons and filtering disaggregated policy-level data by commodity and policy implementation criteria.
